Easily evaluate SiTime oscillators configured via I2C/SPI interfaces

Several SiTime oscillator families may be frequency re-programmed or tuned (i.e. pulled) via I2C or SPI interfaces. The TimeMaster™ software enables quick and easy evaluation of these features. This software runs on Windows-based PCs and is designed to work with evaluation boards for SiTime user-programmable oscillators and TCXOs.

SiT6701DM Demo Board

The SiT6701DM is a PC-controlled demonstration board designed to evaluate digitally-controlled I2C/SPI programmable oscillators with differential outputs. It enables the user to evaluate all aspects of these oscillators including signal integrity, phase noise, phase jitter, output frequency re-programming, and frequency pulling via I2C/SPI interfaces. 

  • The TimeMaster™ clock configurator software is provided for controlling the board

The SiT6702DM is a PC-controlled demonstration board designed for evaluating the features of SiTime oscillators that have I2C/SPI interfaces for in-system programming of output frequency or pulling/tuning the frequency.

TimeMaster Web-based Configurator

Generate register values for firmware/software prototyping and verification

The web-based TimeMaster configuration tool makes it easy to get register values to configure SiTime oscillators through I2C/SPI interfaces. Simply select a part number, signaling type, output frequency, output (enable/disable), and pull range – then export the register values to a CSV file.

AN10064 Improve System Performance with Digital Frequency Tuning in Precision TCXOs

This app note provides information on using the digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) mode in SiTime Elite Platform™ Super-TCXO™ families that offer in-system frequency tuning through an I2C digital interface. Learn how to continuously pull the output frequency from ±6.25 to ±3200 ppm, and control the output enable (OE) state of the device by writing to device registers. SiTime TCXOs with DCO mode include the SiT5155/56/57, SiT5356/57, SiT5358/59 families, which support output frequencies from 1 MHz to 220 MHz.

AN10050 I2C/SPI Programmable Oscillators

earn how to use SiTime SiT3521/22 oscillators that allow in-system re-programming the output frequency using a digital interface (I2C or SPI). Two modes of operation are supported: 1) any-frequency mode with the capability to set the frequency to a new value within a wide frequency range, and 2) DCO mode that allows the frequency to be continuously pulled to one of 16 options over a wide pull range. Additionally, users can control the output enable (OE) state of the device and output driver settings (e.g. output swing). The SiT3521 (1 to 340 MHz) and the SiT3522 (340.000001 to 725 MHz) oscillators support LVPECL, LVDS, and HCSL output signaling.
