The Big Idea recognition is awarded to the innovation that received the most votes across all categories in the 2023 IDEA Awards readers’ choice poll. SiTime’s winning entry in the Sensors and Software category is a testament to its innovation and leadership in MEMS-based precision timing.

Impeccable timing synchronization paves the way for novel innovations

Historically, the focus in system design has been on elements like CPU performance and memory capacity. However, with advancements in technology, there is now an understanding that impeccable timing synchronization, whether in networking devices, 5G towers, or aerospace and defense systems, can pave the way for novel innovations that were previously unimaginable. This shift in perspective emphasizes that while all system components matter, timing deserves greater recognition and value than it has traditionally received. SiTime has created the Endura Platform with this perspective in mind, underscoring the belief that precision timing with exacting accuracy can be a powerful catalyst for technological innovation.

For many years, system developers lived with the shortcomings of existing timing technologies and compromised on real-world performance, reliability, and power because there were no viable alternatives. SiTime’s Endura Platform changes the game, delivering higher precision and reliability that was unavailable until now. These benefits are a result of a half-decade of engineering investment and a systems-based development approach that combines MEMS technology, analog, packaging, and algorithms.

SiTime’s 32 kHz MEMS Super-TCXO sets a new performance benchmark for timekeeping components in electronics. The SiT7910 is part of the SiTime Endura™ ruggedized family for aerospace and defense applications. With the advent of this new Super-TCXO, devices that use global positioning system (GPS) signals, such as ruggedized handheld radios, ground vehicles and sensors, can now acquire and lock to GPS more quickly and securely with the 25x higher precision.
