SiTime XCalibur™ active resonators are designed to replace 4-pin SMD crystal resonators in demanding applications such as automotive, industrial, and enterprise equipment. They provide excellent stability over a wide temperature range, greater reliability, reduced BOM, and ease of design. With short lead times and the elimination of design issues related to quartz crystal resonators – such as cold startup, EMI problems, the need for motional impedance (ESR) and negative resistance testing at every design and layout cycle – these active resonators simplify design and reduce time to market. These resonators also eliminate the need for tuning capacitors required for parallel resonant XTALs. And as an active device, they can drive two clock inputs, further reducing component count.
SiTime TempFlat MEMS™ embedded resonators, with a tiny 0.18 mm2 footprint, are up to 85% smaller than typical quartz crystal resonators. These resonators come in popular MHz and kHz frequencies. They are uniquely intended to be integrated into standard IC packages, SIPs, or modules to simplify design and manufacturing. They offer better reliability, higher performance, and environmental resilience in a small size. By replacing traditional crystal resonators, these MEMS devices significantly reduce board space, improve system reliability and robustness, and can reduce system power consumption.
